What did I learn?
Academic Integrity:

Just recently, I undertook an academic examination, which tested my knowledge on the principles, skills and purpose of academic integrity. This enabled me to understand the vitality of academic integrity within my own studies and the wider community abroad.

The learning module identifies that trustworthiness and reliability of university members is a major foundation within the academic community. This is seen through university education providing an opportunity into a career where trustworthiness and honesty are required. Thus, it is essential for participants of educational activities to be honest and trustworthy to their colleagues, through recognising ones previous efforts and or research studies. By doing so, the ability to freely exchanged ideas can greatly benefit growth in learning and equality. Individual application of academic integrity can also reflect proficient research and demonstration of learning topics through credibility, evidence and professionalism.
Applications for a Health Care Professional?
Academic integrity provides the foundation of honesty and respect amongst individual students, tertiary education centres and broader communities, such as health care settings. By employing the skills of respect and honesty, health care providers can enhance interpersonal relationships with clients and work colleagues. Effective acknowledgement and application of respect through patient confidentiality, enables health care providers to exercise professionalism and interpersonal trust. Essentially, resulting in better patient prognosis and thus better adherence to health care recommendations.

The application of honesty for a health care professional exemplifies professional integrity and decency. For patients to make truthful and justifiable decisions, honesty enables health care professionals to demonstrate effective diagnoses and adherence to ethical standards. At current, it is imperative for me to regularly apply academic integrity within my studies to exercise skills such as honesty, trustworthiness and respect, which will be highly applicable for future employment.
Reflection
I found the Academic Integrity and Skills module highly beneficial, as it deepened my understanding of academic integrity in relation to my individual studies and future aspirations as a future health care professional. The modules enlightened my understanding of academic integrity and how its implication can exercise the foundational elements of trust, respect and honesty. Overall, the format and structure of the online modules were easy to navigate and the quizzes effectively reinforced primary concepts and understandings.
